Luke Fender

Luke was born and raised in Wisconsin, spending most of his childhood in Milwaukee, and a year each in England and Germany. Luke was blessed to grow up with considerable exposure to gospel-centered Christian communities through the parenting and influence of his father, Peter, and church youth programs. However, it was many years later as a skeptical and selfish engineering and physics graduate student that these seeds were watered by glimpses of God in creation, a renewed interest in his word, and ultimately the conviction that He sent the Word to personally call even the most skeptical and wretched to Himself. In 2001 Luke married Melissa and moved to the mountains east of Albuquerque eventually finding their home at Mountain Christian Church (MCC) in Cedar Crest, NM where they currently worship (https://www.mountainchristianchurch.org/).Luke holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and works at Sandia National Laboratories; however, his strongest passion since 2005 has been to serve the local body of Christ with biblically faithful and theologically sound teaching. Luke has served two consecutive terms (2019-2025) as a Pastor/Elder at MCC where he currently leads an apologetics small group and is the local Outpost Director for Stand To Reason ministries (www.str.org). He enjoys recreating in the mountains on skis, bikes, or on foot (in that order) and camping with his family (Zoe Ellen, 12 and Josiah Peter, 8).
